Some background:

The National Park Service (NPS) provides grant funding to qualified local governments to fund contract nominations to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Usually, the local government needs a qualified person to manage this complex program. The following is my involvement with this federal government program-

Clients:

  • Latah County Board of County Commissioners, Latah County, Idaho
  • Latah County Historic Preservation Commission

What the clients needed:

The Latah County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and their subordinate Latah County Historic Preservation Commission (LCHPC) needed a qualified historic preservation professional to help manage the Certified Local Funding (CLG) from the National Park Service (NPS).

My role:

The Latah County Board of County Commissioners hired me to manage the multiple grant applications for the Certified Local Government of Latah County, Idaho. It is my responsibility to insure that the grant funds are appropriated properly and used for nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. I regularly oversee three or four national register nominations simultaneously. My job is to advise and guide both the Historic Preservation Commission and the Board of County Commissioners regarding federal and county funding for historic preservation projects.

The customer's feedback:

Sharon really was pleased with how much you have done!...You guys have been accomplishing a lot!"
